Startups providing secondary markets for startups
Having recently come from the VC world I still follow the industry even if I don't blog about it as much (I still owe @hwy12 some guest posts).
One topic I became very interested in was options for startups and VC funded companies to going public, also refered to as secondary markets (I think).
There's an interesting post from PEHub about, of all things, startups providing this service. I need to check these out further but I wonder if you have to be an accredited investor to play. To me these secondary markets are much more interesting that than the stock market.
"I came across some interesting reading along those lines today on SharesPost.com. The exchange site, which launched about a month ago, lets owners of private company stock sell blocks of shares to other private investors. There are a number of startups working on doing this too (SecondMarket, XChange, etc.). But one neat feature that SharesPost has is a list of analyst reports on the companies, offering valuation estimates and some historical data." Sent from my brain telepathically.
